She took a breath while the last bits of orange faded away leaving the sky bright and blue. The roar of waves filled her ears. “It’s a new day,” she whispered.
Bending down, she wiped sand off her feet and slid on her sneakers. She finished tying her shoes when she was knocked on her back by a red blur. A happy dog bounced next to her.
“Max likes you.” Warm brown eyes met hers and a strong hand pulled her to her feet. “I’m sorry, let me make it up to you with coffee.”
“Deal” she said grinning.
